GrannyCart Theatre is named after the blue folding cart our beloved neighbor Rose left behind on 9th Street when she passed. We aim to honor the historically shared heartbeat of the East Village and her spirit by capturing the light of community and sharing its warmth through storytelling.
Alexandra Matsu and Megan Twamley believe that joy is an act of resistance. Driven by their passion, artistry, and expertise, they collaborate with storytellers across New York City to create theatre that is deeply rooted in laughter and authenticity. From variety shows to staged readings and reimagined classics, GrannyCart Theatre creates art that reflects the moment, invites all voices, and fosters space for meaningful dialogue and softness.
